Kiddos } Roller Skate Birthday Sweets & Papery

Here's another fun kids birthday party I worked on a few weeks ago! This bright and girly roller skate themed party was for Hailee's 10th birthday. Hailee is the niece of my bud Rebecca at Sweet Cakes by Rebecca. {Catching a common thread in my posts? Rebecca and I really dig working on parties together!!}

Rebecca {of course} did all the desserts, including ... roller skate cake, a personal mini cupcake-cake tower especially for Hailee, mini cupcakes in two flavors, green apple marshmallows, roller skate sugar cookies, lemon bars, chocolate cake pops and mini panna cotta. She also added fun touches like green & orange gum balls, popcorn and {Hailee's favorite} Cheetos Spiral Puffs!

I handled the paper finery ... found a cool pattern paper to play off of {Rebecca took elements of the paper pattern and incorporated it into the cakes design} and we took off from there! Papery included ... tissue pom poms, name pennant, dessert tags, confetti and tagged snack/goodie bags.

As always ... complete party packages {including desserts by Sweet Cakes by Rebecca} are available. Give us a ring!

Film Inspired } Bollywood Birthday Invites

Since it's becoming ever more challenging to find time to shoot pics of my finished invites, I thought I would be able to share them a little faster by posting digital images of the fabulousness I have the pleasure of working on day-to-day! Although, you can't really see all the fine details {like crystals, hand glittering, etc.} of each invitation ... at least it's a little eye-candy to get your papery & design imagination flowin'.

One of my fav {and repeat!} clients, Karrianna, celebrated her 30th birthday in true Georgia style this past January. Nothing but an amazing Bollywood event would do for the always exuberant, Karri. I had the pleasure of creating an invitation for her closest group of girlfriends for a pre-birthday celebration brunch. Love, love.

Bright, gilded and over the top! Metallic papers, return & guest addressed envelope, folded card design, menu panel, again text inspired {it's soooo my thing!}, heavily embellished with gold hand-glittering, Swarovski crystals {I think we topped out at 14!}, double layered ribbon sash - it is a sight to behold.

Kiddos } The Big 0-5!

What a day! Everything came together great for yesterday's Big 0-5 party!! I was making tags and favor wraps right down to the wire. :) I will post an invitation pic so that you can see the inspiration behind this fab candy & cake bar. I handed all of the invites out to family & friends without keeping one for myself! Soooo, I have to make a few more. But, I couldn't wait to post these pics!!!

A sincere, warm, enthusiastic {and a little mushy} thank you to Rebecca & Hector {Sweet Cakes by Rebecca} for Wyatt's incredible cake. It was the center of the party, the guests were amazed ... and yes, I totally teared up when Rebecca & Hector delivered the cake! My only request of Rebecca was that the cake go along with our Lego Atlantis theme, handed over a design of the invite and asked her to work her magic. And that she did. Not only was the cake amazing to look at, it tasted great too! Each of the large tiers was a different cake ... Snickerdoodle {this is to die for!}, Chocolate, and Marble. All were incredibly moist and yummy! Even the little rice crispy treat lego blocks were delicious. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am really looking forward to working with Sweet Cakes again soon!!!

My unsolicited advice to anyone ordering creative services, {whether it be cakes, decor, papery, etc.} is this ... {1} hire a proven professional, {2} explain your vision clearly and {3} let go. Put your trust their talent to bring your vision to life. Believe me, I do not relinquish control very often ... but when I can spot talent ... I am more than excited to see what someone will do when given creative freedom.

Onto the paper details! Little wraps for the mini lego favors, a quick "Wyatt" banner, candy tags and a little lolli-stick "Cake by" sign. I really wanted to showcase a little cake & candy bar and Wyatt's big 0-5 was a good opportunity to do that. I really had to reel myself in on this one ... because I have a tendency to go a little wild with these things. I could have made a candy bar fit for a 300 guest wedding if I was left up to my own devices. :)

Lots of great invites to showcase next week ... for now, enjoying the day off with my little one to relish in his "officially" turning 5 today!

Rewind } The Archives

I have sooooo many invitations that I haven't photographed yet - some going back to early 2008!  I dragged out the giant invitation archive last night and decided, on a whim, start organizing it all.  And then this morning I needed to shoot some of my finds.

This mostly came out of a need to catalog and store each invitation in a way that I can easily share them at consultations.  And the organizing pressure is on since Martha and I move into the newly renovated meeting space next weekend (well that's the goal anyway!).  More on that later.  We are soooo excited!!

Invitation for a favorite client of mine who, together with her sister, hosted a reception in honor of their brother's recent wedding in Thailand.  I was all about the envelope liner on this invite and really loved how the color palette came together - the muted colors with that crazy pop of limey-yellow.

Double sided postcard invitation for a house warming party.  The Dupras Family, also a previous wedding client of mine, hosted a down-home country shindig at their new diggs.  As simple as this invitation was - it is on my list of all-time favorites.

I have to admit I am already thinking about the holidays!  This invite was for a holiday party celebrating new ownership & renovation of the salons.  I don't know what it is about the holiday season that makes me feel like I need to glitter everything in sight!

I have to say one of my favorite clients of all time - the Ciapessoni Family ordered these invitations for a 60th birthday celebration.  It's always a creative challenge designing an invitation for the dude's out there and still keep my girl-y little twists in there.

My son's 4th birthday invitation.  We loooooove Scooby around here.  Seems like I never get the time to really go nuts on my own party invitations - boo, hoo.  I'm always trying frantically to get them done in the midst of everything else going on.

Feelin' the tiki torches yet?  This was a super-quick invite for my good friends, The Braner Family.  Ashli graduated high school this year and they hosted a BBQ beach inspired bash.

This one was fun!  Introducing the double sided invite.  One side girly - one side all boy.  My friend Coleen has twins and triplets.  Yes!  I know.  For the twin's, Falyne and Karson, 5th birthday I came up with the double sided invite - you choose who's party your attending - one event two invites all in one.

Sooooo, that's it for this morning.  As I go through the rest of the archive, I'll pull more invites - photograph 'em and post 'em up!
