Items created by SJD included an invitation, banner and place cards.
The front of the boxed invitation was designed with a feathered boa, taffeta ribbon bow and gold filagree heart pendant with a Swarovski Rivioli crystal. Inside, the invitation was mounted on a layer of black and antiqued ivory paper. The interior top and bottom of the box was tailored with a luxurious pin-tucked taffeta fabric.
The little banner shouted, "CAN! CAN! CAN!" with feather boas and ribbon tying the individual panels together. Came out super-cute!
Place cards were set beneath an acrylic table top and set down into the floral table ... really an awesome effect! Each place card had a giant golden shadow Swarovski Rivioli crystal set atop a ribbon sash.

T-Minus about 48 hours and Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland opens nationwide!! I am {to say the least} verrrrrry excited! Huge, huge, huge Burton fan and Alice is my favorite Disney movie of all time. The combination of the two makes me absolutely giddy!
By now you realize I am also a fan of
Sweet Cakes by Rebecca. Our mutual admiration and trust in each other's design work is the perfect foundation to any working friendship. I'm excited to say I have another Sweet Cakes creation on it's way this weekend for my sis-in-law's baby shower cake and I cannot wait to see what the team at Sweet Cakes conjures up!

Ahhh, my affinity for table cards. I'm not quite sure how it all started ... but, my thought is ... I spend hours, days, months laboring over hundreds {upon hundreds} of invitation suites at a time and then when it comes time to work on project of 20 or so table cards - I can really go to town on them!

A follow-up my post on the candy labels (below) ... are the die cut table cards for tomorrow's wedding. Super-cute! They really make a plain panel table card really much more spectacular. Just think - with another layer, maybe some ribbon, some even bling-ier bling and these babies could really go over the top. And ... to peak your imagination ... I've got just about every shape and size imaginable to boot. Maybe some scroll-y numbers, letters, mini banner shape ... I may have to play with these and post some samples!
And a tid bit about the monogram in the back. I am obsessed with all things vintage lately - love these really flourished-out letters. This "S" was originally designed as a monogram for another client and just didn't really fit their overall wedding style so we went in a different direction (super-cute! more from that wedding next weekend!). I'll admit I was a little bummed because I really love this "S" and really wanted to use it on a stationery set - and then voila! wedding this weekend? sorta last minute order - and bam-o usin' the "S".

I think by now you realize I have an affection for table cards and making them special. Usually there are fewer than 20 tables at an event - so making them creative and interesting doesn't take a huge chunk out of your budget. It's these little details & touches that make your event really something to talk about!
My uber-talented friend and office-mate, Martha from
Blooms by Martha Andrews, asked me to create some special table cards (pictured above) for an intimate wedding show participated in a few months back at

Last night, I delivered these sweet table cards & menus for Christina & Troy's wedding today! My good friend and planner extraordinaire, Alison of
Alison Ulshoffer Events & Design, called me up for this fun project.
The table cards were oh, so cute with names like - Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch, Chapel of Love, It's in His Kiss, And then He Kissed Me - just to name a few. Are you humming along yet? I like the classic simplicity of numbered cards - but love the idea of naming the cards with either a theme or things that mean something to the couple. They can be a great conversation starter for guests. The menus just as cute, followed suit in the same design palette with a custom monogram heading up the panel. Each card, table & menu, I adorned with Swarovski Crystals for a little surprise and a touch of bling factor for Christina.

Meet Megan and Peter. Their wedding took place in Angwin, California at Megan's uncles winery, Robert Foley Vineyards on August 9th, 2008. The day was captured in photography by the talented team of Artistic Imagery, Amber & Alan. If I could put all the photos they so expertly took - I would. The cellar photos are simply breathtaking.
If there is any couple I have worked with in the last 6 years that I connected with on just about every level - it was Megan & Peter. From their wedding to tattoos - I think we just about covered it all! Their vision was clean and crisp with a Rock-a-billy attitude.
Their invitation was a 5x7 panel design, double matte invitation of black linen and classic white - three layers all together, enclosures secured to the back with a bandwrap, grosgrain ribbon & monogram panel, directions, accommodation info and reply postcard. The table cards were 5x7 single matte in black linen, table name printed on classic white and double sided so that guests could see the table name from any direction. The thank you notes were printed with their custom monogram on classic white 4x5 notecards with matching classic white envelopes.

OMG! I love how Megan & Peter's table cards came out! I can't wait to get the photos processed of their entire wedding suite to share. I absolutely had to post this photo of the their table cards all stacked up and ready to go.
They selected names of "things" (cities, places, dates, etc.) that were meaningful to them as their table numbers. I love that idea and it's a great alternative to just numbering the tables. You could even take the naming a step further and do a double sided table card with the "name" on one side and a description of why that name is significant to you and your beloved. Giving your guests some great conversation material while they're waiting for the party to get started.
A few more tips ... keep table cards large enough to read but small enough not to compete with other table decor, decide whether you will need a stand/holder for your table cards or if you want them designed like a tent to stand on their own prior to ordering and have fun with them!
