Being a close friend of mine does carry it's paper benefits. :) My wedding gift to Nicole was her invitation suite. We did a paper boxed invitation set to really wow her intimate gathering of guests. Colors were muted in a palette of sage, chocolate and caramel. Papers were a combination of matte sage invitation box, matte sage & chocolate matte papers and touches of soft champagne & ivory metallics.
Not to mention ... Carissa with Sugar and Spice Specialty Desserts used inspiration from the invitations to design their cake. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! :)
Cheers to Nicole & John!

Love, love, love my office mate and friend, Martha of Blooms by Martha Andrews, she sent me home with three bunches of melon color roses earlier in the week. They make such a bright little spot in my home studio! Thanks, M!!! :)

I think by now you realize I have an affection for table cards and making them special. Usually there are fewer than 20 tables at an event - so making them creative and interesting doesn't take a huge chunk out of your budget. It's these little details & touches that make your event really something to talk about!
My uber-talented friend and office-mate, Martha from
Blooms by Martha Andrews, asked me to create some special table cards (pictured above) for an intimate wedding show participated in a few months back at
Le Rivage in Sacramento. These table cards coordinated with the theme of each table (or floral design concept) she created. Check out Martha's blog for
pics on the table-scapes.

As promised ... pics from yesterday's bridal show at Arden Hills Resort Club & Spa. A very special thank you to my friend, Sharon, for keeping me company and helping me out at the show!! Also, to Martha (Blooms by Martha Andrews), my office mate and friend, thank you bunches for the floral arrangement you so graciously donated to by booth! Everyone commented on how beautiful and unique it was. I'm just sorry my pics don't do the arrangement justice!!
The day flew by as we chatted with brides, grooms and the family members who visited the show. Thanks to all of you for braving the super-cold Sunday afternoon!
The show was over before I knew it! Seriously the day went by so fast. Usually, the last hour of a show is pretty slow and the minutes drag on and on. Not so for this show. When Nicole of Dynamite Weddings told me it was just after 4p ... I didn't believe her. :)
Ooo, and speaking of Dynamite Weddings ... they are hosting a workshop titled, "Ignite Your Wedding Style" on Sunday, March 15th at the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria from 10-4p. The cost is $35/guest. Find out more and sign up at the Dynamite Weddings website.
Here's to the beginning of the 2009 wedding season!!

Oh, man ... it has been a while since my last post! Busy, busy. Lots going on and some great news to share. This week, together with my friends (Blooms and PLUSH), I'm moving into a quaint studio space in Lincoln. The three of us are beyond excited to be out of our home, local coffee house or restaurant to meet clients. I'll post photos from the move-in this week. We've also created a sort of gateway to our shared space online at throwasoiree.com.
A little about my office mates ... Blooms is Blooms by Martha Andrews an amazing floral designer specializing in premier weddings & events. Her work has been featured in numerous local wedding magazines and some incredible national magazines. I had the pleasure of working with Martha on the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria Open House and Photo Shoot back in July. Martha is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to couture floral design. Her design work is captivating and beautiful without an ounce of pretentiousness.
PLUSH is owned by the ever fabulous and detail driven Michaela Rodgers. Michaela is your girl if you're out of your element planning a big bash. From planning an event from beginning to end or handling the day of details she's got it covered. Not to mention a design eye that is fashion forward ... putting just the right touches on the big details and the teeniest of the tiny ones.
I can't wait to join my office mates and see what crazy new adventures the next few months will bring!
