Weddings } Gunslinger Reception Papery & Decor

Wedding papery doesn't have to be all butterflies & baroque! This fun take on reception papery for a wedding this weekend in Texas was all about Girly Gunslinging.

I recently started working with candy buffet maven The Sweetress based in the Lone Star State on candy tag, birthday and wedding papery ... {be on the lookout for a feature on her new logo coming soon - by you know who!} and I have to say it's been super-fun so far! We have some fun party projects coming up together ... can't wait to share!

Super-cute LolliSticks with the Bang! Bang! emblem will be featured on the candy buffet, as well as the Die-Cut Candy tags, menus for each of the place settings, escort cards, table cards {not pictured} and the Bang! Bang! Find Your Seat Die-Cut will be placed on a custom pin board Diana, owner of The Sweetress, will be creating for the reception.

Think out side of the traditional {unless that's your thing!} and truly make your wedding one to remember!!

Schedule } Ready for the New Year!

I'm back from holiday break and super-excited for what Twenty Eleven has in store! New clients, new projects ... and a fresh new outlook is all a paper girl could ask for.

A few photos to share this morning! I created some super-cute tags over the weekend for our good friends Rebecca & Hector over at Sweet Cakes by Rebecca for her sweet-tastic candy & dessert buffet at the Premier Wedding Show at Arden Hills Resort Club & Spa yesterday January 9th.

Cheers to a New Year!

Events } Lavish and Fabulous -All You Need Is Love Vignette

Remember that glam event I mentioned a week or so ago?? Pics are rolling in!!! First up ... the All You Need Is Love Vignette.

This space is inspired by the TV show Mad Men on AMC. The design for this room started with the daisy theme chandelier that was found at Ikea and really took over from there. Combining the fab era’s of the 50′s and 60′s and a twist of 2010 into one amazing retro chic vignette.

I had such a blast creating the invitation, menus, place cards, poster, dessert bar tags and hand-sewn fabric flower pom-poms for this spread!!!

The boxed invitation was hand-finished in a modern-yet-retro black and white fabric, inside was finished with a yellow and white polka-dot fabric with the paper part of the invitation in matte black and white. The front of the invitation was finished off with a thick black double-faced satin ribbon and a little yellow and white polka-dot fabric flower pom-pom.

The menu's were affixed to each one of the individual floral arrangements placed at each place setting. Fab idea from Katie with Ambience!

Place card - slash - snazzy soda-pop beverage! Oh, yeah. Super-cute floral fabric pom-poms were attached to each of the soda pop bottles in alternating black/white and yellow combinations. The actual little place card flag was attached to the vintage green and white paper straws. You know I am a huge fan of those little straws!!

Poster! What can I say? Measures 24x36 affixed to foamcore for stability on a matte bright white paper. I am such a fan of pop-art and this added just a little touch of whimsy to Rebecca's {with Sweet Cakes by Rebecca} aaaaamazing dessert bar. The dessert bar tags came out super cute too - I created those in alternating yellow/white and black/white to mix it all up a bit. Rebecca and I were emailing into the wee hours making sure no detail was overlooked - hello!! the couples monogram is even on the sugar cookies!!! Love.

My absolute favorite ... would have to be those little fabric flower pom-poms!! Soooo, much fun to make ... look for them soon in the SJD Shop!! We're planning on making 4 different sizes to choose from.

Recent Creations } Alice in Wonderland Inspired Papery

T-Minus about 48 hours and Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland opens nationwide!! I am {to say the least} verrrrrry excited! Huge, huge, huge Burton fan and Alice is my favorite Disney movie of all time. The combination of the two makes me absolutely giddy!

By now you realize I am also a fan of Sweet Cakes by Rebecca. Our mutual admiration and trust in each other's design work is the perfect foundation to any working friendship. I'm excited to say I have another Sweet Cakes creation on it's way this weekend for my sis-in-law's baby shower cake and I cannot wait to see what the team at Sweet Cakes conjures up!

I was feeling a little like the White Rabbit getting these little Alice in Wonderland candy buffet tags and cake sign done for Sweet Cakes in time for last night's AFWPI Mixer at Winchester Country Club. Just a little last minute sample of what SJD can do with little more than a few hours notice!

Kiddos } The Big 0-5!

What a day! Everything came together great for yesterday's Big 0-5 party!! I was making tags and favor wraps right down to the wire. :) I will post an invitation pic so that you can see the inspiration behind this fab candy & cake bar. I handed all of the invites out to family & friends without keeping one for myself! Soooo, I have to make a few more. But, I couldn't wait to post these pics!!!

A sincere, warm, enthusiastic {and a little mushy} thank you to Rebecca & Hector {Sweet Cakes by Rebecca} for Wyatt's incredible cake. It was the center of the party, the guests were amazed ... and yes, I totally teared up when Rebecca & Hector delivered the cake! My only request of Rebecca was that the cake go along with our Lego Atlantis theme, handed over a design of the invite and asked her to work her magic. And that she did. Not only was the cake amazing to look at, it tasted great too! Each of the large tiers was a different cake ... Snickerdoodle {this is to die for!}, Chocolate, and Marble. All were incredibly moist and yummy! Even the little rice crispy treat lego blocks were delicious. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am really looking forward to working with Sweet Cakes again soon!!!

My unsolicited advice to anyone ordering creative services, {whether it be cakes, decor, papery, etc.} is this ... {1} hire a proven professional, {2} explain your vision clearly and {3} let go. Put your trust their talent to bring your vision to life. Believe me, I do not relinquish control very often ... but when I can spot talent ... I am more than excited to see what someone will do when given creative freedom.

Onto the paper details! Little wraps for the mini lego favors, a quick "Wyatt" banner, candy tags and a little lolli-stick "Cake by" sign. I really wanted to showcase a little cake & candy bar and Wyatt's big 0-5 was a good opportunity to do that. I really had to reel myself in on this one ... because I have a tendency to go a little wild with these things. I could have made a candy bar fit for a 300 guest wedding if I was left up to my own devices. :)

Lots of great invites to showcase next week ... for now, enjoying the day off with my little one to relish in his "officially" turning 5 today!

Recent Creations } The Big 0-5!

My baby turns the big 0-5 on Sunday! I can hardly believe it has been 5 years already! The big bash is scheduled for tomorrow and if all goes according to plan I will have some great papery pics to share! Not ... to ... mention ... the ... cake!!! Rebecca from Sweet Cakes by Rebecca is making the most fabulous cake for tomorrow! I cannot wait.

For now ... a little pic of the lolli-stick cupcake picks I created for his school day cupcakes. Just a little something to tide ya over!

"W's" and "5's" for all his classmates with the "Birthday Boy" one for, well ... the birthday boy. Yes, I was up until 2am working on these little lolli-sticks. Just in time to wake up at 6am to whip up the icing and frost these babies.

There are sooooo many creative ways to use these custom lolli-sticks! Candy buffets, dessert buffets, kids parties, grown up events ... really the possibilities are limitless!
