Recent Creations } Barn Chic Papery | Part 1

Loved how this invitation turned out! Sarah and Josh were super-fun to work with and were open to anything and that made my job as designer a dream. Their wedding planner Michaela with PLUSH is super-sweet and a workhorse on wedding day!

This post is all about the invite {their save the date was featured previously here} and Part 2 will feature the reception paper and a cake topper that was sooooo much fun to create.

The invitation was pink, pink, pink and touches of antique and champagne gold. Little custom heart monogram to coordinate with the brand of the family ranch. LOVE that. The map had to be my favorite part with a little layout of the entire wedding location - complete with little pink barn animals here and there.

We used mainly metallic finish papers, because Sarah was all about the sparkle! Soooo much fun ... can't wait to share reception details.

Congrats {again!}, Sarah and Josh!!!

Kiddos } Hardware Baby Announcement

Love, love, love how this baby announcement for the Hammar family came together!! Mama Hammar wanted an announcement for their latest addition that took a whimsical play on their last name.

We kept the materials simple with a thin single matte announcement layered on a metallic champagne cardstock, a little hand-glittering in gold on the "H" for just a touch of sparkle and some bold graphics to set it all off.

Love how they feel a touch circus-y with a dash of old town hardware store tossed in there.

Ohhh, happy weekend ... more eye candy tomorrow!

Monograms } How to Build Initials

Quickie post! Lot's of questions pour in here about monograms. What is traditional? What is modern? What initials go where?

Here's a few tips that I hope will help!

Wedding Traditional Approach:
Use only your single first initials on pre-ceremony stationery
Use your new married single initial or 3 letter initials in post-ceremony stationery

Wedding Modern Approach:
Anything goes!
Use your new 3 initial married monogram
Use your new single married last name initial
Use your first initials

What goes where?
Unmarried Stationery
Jill Anne Smith = J, JAS, JS -or- JSA
Eve Marie DuPont = E, EMDP -or- EDPM
Rob Michael Davis = R, RMD -or- RDM

Married Stationery
Jill Anne Smith Davis = J, JSD -or- JDA
Rob Michael Davis = R, RMD, RDM
Jill and Rob Davis = D, JR -or- JDR

Hyphenated names get tricky ... if you have questions on those feel free to email us at stephanie@stephaniejdesigns.com!

Film Inspired } Bollywood Birthday Invites

Since it's becoming ever more challenging to find time to shoot pics of my finished invites, I thought I would be able to share them a little faster by posting digital images of the fabulousness I have the pleasure of working on day-to-day! Although, you can't really see all the fine details {like crystals, hand glittering, etc.} of each invitation ... at least it's a little eye-candy to get your papery & design imagination flowin'.

One of my fav {and repeat!} clients, Karrianna, celebrated her 30th birthday in true Georgia style this past January. Nothing but an amazing Bollywood event would do for the always exuberant, Karri. I had the pleasure of creating an invitation for her closest group of girlfriends for a pre-birthday celebration brunch. Love, love.

Bright, gilded and over the top! Metallic papers, return & guest addressed envelope, folded card design, menu panel, again text inspired {it's soooo my thing!}, heavily embellished with gold hand-glittering, Swarovski crystals {I think we topped out at 14!}, double layered ribbon sash - it is a sight to behold.

Recent Creations } Alice in Wonderland Inspired Papery

T-Minus about 48 hours and Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland opens nationwide!! I am {to say the least} verrrrrry excited! Huge, huge, huge Burton fan and Alice is my favorite Disney movie of all time. The combination of the two makes me absolutely giddy!

By now you realize I am also a fan of Sweet Cakes by Rebecca. Our mutual admiration and trust in each other's design work is the perfect foundation to any working friendship. I'm excited to say I have another Sweet Cakes creation on it's way this weekend for my sis-in-law's baby shower cake and I cannot wait to see what the team at Sweet Cakes conjures up!

I was feeling a little like the White Rabbit getting these little Alice in Wonderland candy buffet tags and cake sign done for Sweet Cakes in time for last night's AFWPI Mixer at Winchester Country Club. Just a little last minute sample of what SJD can do with little more than a few hours notice!

Recent Creations } Sarah & Josh's Super-Sweet Save the Dates

Ok. I am soooo not a fan of magnet save the dates. You know the ones that look like business cards? Lame-o. Big time. I am, however, a fan of the functionality of a magnet save the date. And soooo, just in time for Valentine's Day, this super-sweet little save the date for Sarah & Josh was created. Tons of great paper details to come as their big day nears ... "so keep a weather eye out" {sorry, just watched Pirates of the Caribbean}. Hello! These are only the save the dates, can you imagine the invites??!

Since the magnet on these babies is hidden, I had to come up with a cleaver way to let guests know there was something special hidden within. Decided on a little heart tag to go along with their little cupid's heart monogram would do the trick.

The 4x5 Sweet-Heart Save the Date panel has one matte in a warm metallic gold, the printing layer is on a soft metallic ivory {that was tinted a very soft pink} and the return addressed envelope is a medium metallic gold. The print layer was embellished with antique glass-like hand glittering around the chandelier & bottom swag, finished off with the little heart tag and bakers twine. I really love, love bakers twine ... look for it in a variety of colors in upcoming designs!

Best of Sacramento Bash } Lolli-Stick Dessert Tags

Tonight!  Sacramento Magazine's "Best of Sacramento" big bash is tonight!  Visit their blog for details and ticket information.  You can still get tickets at the door!

I had the pleasure of creating some dessert bar tags for Carissa with Sugar and Spice and ....  She is creating, what I hear to be an amazing display of literally thousands, mini dessert bites including ... cupcakes, caramel cream puffs, sugar cookies, haute chocolate mousse, spicy ginger-lemon mousse, pb&j's, strawberry pate de fruit and a wedding cake!  Carissa's desserts are gorgeous - a must see.

The dessert bar tags I created turned out super-cute!  Right?  At the event they will be placed in shot glasses filled with hot pink sugar.  Can't wait to see pics!  But could not wait for event pics ... I absolutely had to share how adorable these little babies came out!

A Dazzling 70th

My super-friends (super ... because they have 5 little ones under 5!), The Rekers Family, ordered birthday invitations for mom's 70th birthday celebration.  The invitation was inspired by the dazzling and luxurious Mom herself.  She loves pink - and I thought a muted palette lent itself to vintage, dusty rose accents.  It's a 7x7 panel design, with a triple matte, metallic & matte papers, ribbon trim and hand glittering.

I'm so into this hand glittering right now.  It is really time consuming but the effect is well worth the work.  Up next, my little one's Scooby invites ... working on those babies tonight!!

Favz > Holiday Greetings

My friends, The Chiesa Family, just picked up their holiday cards yesterday.  Sarah couldn't decide which photos to use of her beautiful baby girl - so she had me create - not one, but two - holiday cards!  Fabulous.  The portraits were taken by my good friend Jessica Giblin of Jessica Giblin Photography.

I'm wrapping up a few other holiday card orders and will have more pics to publish soon!

Holiday > Favorites

One of my favorite holiday designs last year was for the Hewitt Family.  Their invitation suite was a three holiday greeting - holiday card, new address announcement and housewarming party invite all wrapped up into one.

Instead of traditional greens, reds and the like, we opted to used colors from their new ranch home - warm browns, antique golds, spicy curry yellow and fiery copper.  To bring in the holiday feel - I hand glittered - uh - nearly a thousand little snowflakes.  My house and studio were gilded to say the least.  :)

The invitation suite was a 7x7 pocket fold, double matte family photo on the front panel, single matte holiday housewarming panel, gilded snowflakes, single matte photo of the girls, six layer invitation panel (yeoweee!), direction panel, accommodation panel, reply card, reply envelope and custom outside envelope.  It was a flurry of work here the week before Christmas last year getting these babies ready for delivery.

The Hewitt's have become dear friends of mine and I'm looking forward to more special greetings & invites!!
Happy Holidays to all!!

Kidz > Merry, Merry First Birthday

Been super-busy with invites and it's been a month now since my last post!!  Yikes.  I had to put up these first birthday invites - they came out super cute.  Not sure if you can see in the photographs but the icing on the ginger-girl is hand glued and glittered.  Very time consuming - but the effect is sooo worth it!

The invitation is a 7x7 square, triple matte plus the invitation layer - 4 layers in all, hand glittering, Swarovski crystal, flat satin bow, custom printed envelope liner, classic & metallic papers and a custom printed envelope.  Wow-y!!

This set of 25 ran: $15 each (plus sales tax and custom design fee of $85 for celebrations).  Assemble it yourself and save more!  I offer incremental discounts on all invitation packages, too.  100+ = 5%, 150+ = 10%, 200+ = 15%, 500+ = 20% and DIY (Do It Yourself) = 25%.  Savings may appear even greater (on your invoice) than the incremental percentage since with custom printing there are charges at the printer that are incurred on each order.

This little invite posting is a reminder, too!  The holidays are right around the corner ... order your holiday greetings now to ensure timely delivery.  There are several signature designs for this year >>> look over to the menu on the right under HOLIDAY or we can create one uniquely you!!

You'll want to mail your holiday greetings to family and friends by the week of December 15th.  If (you're like most of us) and wait until the last minute ... you can create a Happy New Years type greeting.  If that is the case - those should go out the week of (or immediately following) Christmas.  In any case, I'm booking up, so don't delay!!!
